Our Beliefs

Anthony Christian Church exists to believe in and worship God according to Scripture. We are associated with churches who emphasize union in biblical truth and seek to restore the spirit of the church modeled and taught in the New Testament. ACC is part of a fellowship of non-denominational churches scattered throughout the world known as Christian Churches. Her roots are in what is known as the Stone-Campbell heritage that began in the United States in the early 19th century. What we believe matters and the following contains truths we adhere to.

GOD

There is only one true God.  He is sovereign over all creation.  God exists equally in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  God is revealed to us through His creation, the Scriptures, His Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.  God perfectly defines and expresses truth and love to us, desires a relationship with every person. Matthew 11:27, Matthew 28:19, John 1:1-4, 2 Corinthians 13:14, 1 John 4:16

JESUS

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, equal with God the Father and God the Spirit. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary and was fully God and fully man. During His earthly ministry His miraculous acts, sinless life, pure and perfect teachings, and fulfillment of prophecy confirmed His Deity. While He experienced human emotions, physical sufferings, and temptations He acted completely in obedience to the Father. He died for our sins, was buried, and was raised from the dead. He ascended into Heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father and is our High Priest and Advocate, and will return again someday. Matthew 1:22-23, John 1:1-3, Romans 8:3, Luke 4:21, Acts 4:12, 1 Corinthians 15:1-7

HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is equal with God the Father and God the Son. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit indwells every person from the very moment of salvation. The Holy Spirit produces new life in us and helps each believer to understand Scripture, discern what is right, and provides the strength to serve and obey God. The Holy Spirit’s influence becomes greater and more effective in us as we yield to His leading in obedience. John 3:1-7, Romans 8:9-10, Ephesians 1:14, 4:30, 2 Corinthians 1:22, 5:5

HUMANITY

God creates all humans, male and female, in his image, and therefore all people have intrinsic value and purpose. By the sin of the first man and woman (Adam and Eve), death entered the world. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, alienated from God and without hope apart from Jesus Christ. (Gen 1:26-27; Gen 3; Rom 3:23; 5:12; Eph 2:1-3)

THE BIBLE

The Bible is God’s Word. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture or error. The Bible is infallible, inerrant, and absolute truth. Where it speaks, we listen and obey. Psalms 12:6, 119:105, 160; Proverbs 30:5; 2 Timothy 1:13, 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21

BAPTISM

Baptism is an act commanded by Christ and confirmed by the Apostles. The immersion into water connects the believer to the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:38-39, Colossians 2:11-12; Romans 6:3-5, Galatians 3:26-29

SALVATION

Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. Salvation can be found in Christ alone and is offered to all by grace through faith. A living faith is demonstrated through repentance, confession, baptism by immersion, and a life of obedience. (Rom 3:23; 5:12, Acts 2:38, Gal 3:26-29; Eph 2:4-10)

CHURCH

The church is the body of Christ on earth, with Christ as the head. God’s church is comprised of all believers, serving as ministers of the gospel according to the gifts which God has given them. Together the church is called to make disciples of every tribe, people, and language until Christ returns. (Matt. 28:18-20; Eph 3:10; 4:11-13; Col 1:18; 1 Pet 2:9-10; Rev. 7:9)
